"When I got in front of that camera I felt free, I wasn't t shy or nervous any more. I was expressing myself through the camera."
Models like Laura who are shy can sometimes find it hard to have themselves heard and seen in the industry. The fashion industry is often labeled as "cut-throat", and it takes a lot of guts and determination to succeed. Laura is doing everything she can to be discovered, and the first big step has been taking some fantastic test shoots (which you can check out in this interview and on her Instagram). Please give Laura all the encouragement she deserves!
Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :)
I want to work as a model because it has always been my dream, modeling excites me and makes me happy.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I have never attended any modeling courses but I always try to learn how to pose by looking for poses on the internet and practicing them in front of the mirror.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
I think what makes someone fit to be a model is the passion that they have. I think passion is the most important component because if you don't have passion for what you're doing then there's no point in doing it.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
My goals as a model is to be able to work for high fashion designers and become a Victoria's Secret angel.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
When communicating with someone I always try to keep my best attitude, I'm not so friendly because I'm a bit shy but modeling is helping me come out of my shell. I always follow the client's requirements.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I always try to eat nutritiously but once in a while I get off track, sometimes I eat not so healthy. I do exercise twice a week is very important for me to be in shape.
What is your dream role as a model?
My dream role as a model is to be a catwalk model and walk for the most important fashion shows.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
My limitation is that I would not pose for nudes.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
I would love to travel and I would be a part time model because of college.
What is your most memorable experience as a model?
My most memorable experience was the day of my first shoot, I was so nervous because that was my first time being in front of the camera I thought I was going to do horrible but I didn't because when I got in front of that camera I felt free, I wasn't t shy or nervous any more I was expressing myself through the camera. That day everything was perfect and I was so glad that I practiced doing poses that really helped me a lot.
